FEAT BASTARDA TRIO BACH: ROOTS OF FUGUE
Music J.S. Bach & improvisations
Ensemble 5 musicians
Electrifying music making, unbridled virtuosity, unpredictably free and unique. Anna Stegmann and Jorge Jiménez are taking the art of the fugue further with the Bastarda Trio. This programme was created and premiered for BACH INSPIRIERT (BachFest Münster 2024).
The internationally sought-after duo, and the crossover trio from Poland, have made Bach's immortal Kunst der Fuge their own. They draw from fugues from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods into something completely new.
The quintet improvises "alla bastarda", creating new works by developing existing patterns. Melodies are minimalistic: fast-moving passages and new harmonies emerge. Additional voices are invented and counterpoint is created on the spot.
Bach echoes into the 21st century.
ENSEMBLE ODYSEE A Royal Entertainment
In this programme Anna Stegmann accompanied by her very own Ensemble Odyssee, revives seldom-performed early English concertos for different types of flutes with historical fidelity and fresh insight.
The programme also includes works by Corbett and Vivaldi, reflecting the popular repertoire of London’s smaller stages during the same period. This performance not only illuminates a pivotal era in music history but also provides a vibrant listening experience that bridges past and present.
Music by Baston, Babell, Woodcock, Handel, Vivaldi & more

Jiménez & Stegmann ZENITH
Zenith blends medieval melodies with electronic sounds and haunting traditional tunes with innocent song. Just a few original compositions were available to our duo formed of recorders and all sorts of violins, yet the programme offers arrangements spanning 800 years of repertoire, including original electronic compositions by Jorge. Fluent connections of musical styles present a wealth of sound colours that let the light in as often as they invite darkness.
We invite you to walk with us on a musical tightrope between the light and the dark, euphoria and depression, existence and extinction.
Music by Bach, Satie, Hatzis, Bartók, Berio & others
